Lose Yourself to Find Yourself. The theme for Local’s 13th season of new plays and theatrical works captures the experience of creating and attending live theater. Theater requires us to dive deep into a story, allow for the uncertainty that comes with not knowing where it’s headed, and let ourselves be changed by the experience. The best theater expands our thinking, makes us question our perspective, and connects us to one another. The best theater builds trust that allows us to lose ourselves, knowing that there’s more to find.

This process of creation is one that we embrace at all levels. Last year you dove into the story with us as we expanded artistic leadership to three Co-Artistic Directors, Betty Hart, Nick Chase, and Pesha Rudnick. As you’ve heard our Co-Artistic Directors say, we knew that with three creative minds, we could be more visionary, more inclusive, and more transformative. It was an exciting year of discovery and you see the results in our upcoming 13th season - a season full of humor and truth, in expanded conversations and engagement through Come Together and The Democracy Cycle, and in expanded education programs.

We didn’t stop there! As we launch Season 13, I'm thrilled to have accepted the role of Local’s Executive Director. The inclusion of an Executive Director creates room for more stories, more engagement, more opportunities to come together in connection with artists and audiences - and it signals new commitments. Local Theater Company is committed to developing theatrical works that transform us. We’re committed to fostering spaces of belonging, and we’re committed to doing it all in a way that is sustainable so we’re here for years to come.

Together we’re diving in, making discoveries, getting messy, and telling more stories of our evolving world. In a time when so much of this world is undergoing significant change, Local keeps building on the team you know and trust.
