TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM

Local Theater Company presents educational opportunities to middle and high school students through its LocalWRITES literacy/playwriting program. The Teacher Training Program is a three-hour workshop offered twice annually that allows us to share our techniques with teaching artists, and consider teaching artists for lead, associate and apprentice educator positions in our LocalWRITES classes. If you are interested in participating, please fill out the application below.

Note: educators who are fluent in English and Spanish are strongly encouraged to apply.

F.A.Q.

  1. What should I expect from the three-hour workshop?

    Participants will be introduced to aspects of the LocalWRITES curriculum that focus on the construction of narrative, creation of character, and the understanding of dramatic narrative terminology. Additionally, we will discuss games that foster engagement and promote understanding of the playwriting process.

  2. Do participants pay a fee to join the workshop?

    NO! In fact, Local Theater Company provides all participants a $25 stipend for their participation.

  3. If I participate, will I be considered for future LocalWRITES educator positions?

    Yes. Local Theater Company has created this training program to share our methodologies, and to better understand who the teaching artists in our area are.

  4. I can’t attend the training workshop, but I wish to be considered for a position. Is that possible?
