Include: why you joined the board, why you care about Local, where you live and where you grew up, where and what you studied in school if applicable, your currenty profeesional title and work, 1-4 examples of current/past professional, vocational, volunteer experience, the best part of being a Board members is, one thing that may surprise people to know about me, what do I believe Local does amazingly well?

Example: Kate Gipson (Executive Director) has been active with Local Theater Company since the first Local Lab in 2012 and is a passionate advocate for fostering time, space, and resources for artists to create the stories that tell the story of today. Originally from Mississippi where they got her first taste of the power of live theater at age eight, Gipson now lives in Louisville, KY where they are a member of the board of directors at Actors’ Theatre of Louisville and is a single mom raising a budding performer and lighting designer. Gipson received a B.A. in theater from Washington University in St. Louis. Gipson is the previous Manager of Youth Workforce Development at Goodwill Denver and Associate Artistic Director at Curious Theater Company in Denver. They were a founding board member at Benchmark Theater where she headed community outreach, and is a former volunteer at the Delores Project. The best part about being on the Local Theater Company board is the opportunity to connect with staff, Associate Artists, and other board members to support a full, decentralized look at theater leadership. You may be surprised to learn that they set a goal last year to take at least one hike and read one new novel every month, resulting in hikes in 6 states and Puerto Rico and reading 15 novels! They have attended Local Lab at all three locations, Chataqua Auditorium, etown Hall, and Local Lab and it’s one of her favorite theater events every year.
